“Painting: when the conscious self fades and the painting takes over.”

“I paint what I see in front of me—my home, landscapes, and daily surroundings. My paintings are about looking clearly, capturing the truth, and quiet that emerges from careful observation.”
"I was encouraged in art from a very early age and won a national gold medal for watercolor in high school. I started painting in oil at 16 when my father gave me the supplies from his mail-order home-study art course when he lost interest. But he told me if I wanted to study art I had to be a teacher or go into commercial art. I believed him. I worked as a free-lance graphic designer for many years."
"Now is my time to paint."

BIO
Andrea spent a lot of time in the art museums in Detroit, Chicago, San Francisco, London, and Paris, where the art of Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, and John Singer Sargent really spoke to her, and greatly influences her work. She has worked in acrylic, oil, watercolor, and ink (on scratch-board) but is now focussed in oil paint.
After an education in the Detroit area, Andrea headed for the golden state of California where she quickly developed a passion for painting outdoors, en plein air. Enjoying many years in the warmth of the sun, she returned to Michigan, this time in the Lansing area, for love of family. Back in Michigan and retired from a career in graphic design, she paints full time. Her paintings have won awards in local and regional competitions.
Her art is in private collections throughout the U.S and London, and is available for purchase at various art shows and galleries as well as here on this website.
